Dr. Aramesh uses a “whole person” treatment approach, discussing not only medications (when indicated) and psychotherapy as part of a treatment plan, but also, addressing lifestyle changes, diet, exercise, and other alternative modalities of treatment.

She also understands the importance of collaborative care, and she works with other physicians and colleagues to corroborate care in an effort to improve treatment outcomes. At the end of the day, she believes that the overall goal is improved functionality and better quality of life.

Telepsychiatry services are available for certain patients.

When appropriate, telemedicine (video) appointments are available to existing clients. Video appointments allow for more convenient meetings for those who would not derive additional benefits from in-person meetings. The client must sign the consent form prior to the telephone visit and have access to a private space and appropriate technology for this type of appointment.

Medication management

When undergoing medication adjustments, we will need to meet more frequently. When medication regimens are stable, the appointments may be spaced out every 1-3 months.

Psychiatric medications can be used alone or in conjunction with psychotherapy to treat many conditions. Each individual case is different and may require a different approach. In situations where medication is indicated, it is imperative that you understand the target symptoms and likely outcomes.

Medication is not guaranteed to work for everyone and it is possible that you may undergo several medication trials before finding the medication that will work for you. Immediate relief of symptoms may not be possible since most psychiatric medications can take up to a few weeks to realize the benefits.

Additionally, all medications carry potential risks and side effects. Before initiating any medication treatment, Dr. Aramesh will discuss the risks, benefits, and alternative treatments, including the alternative option of no medication and psychotherapy alone.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is a way to help people with a broad variety of mental illnesses and emotional difficulties. Psychotherapy can help eliminate or control troubling symptoms in relation to the process of life transitions, relational problems, emotional difficulties, and work-life balance issues.

Psychotherapy will help patients strengthen their own insight and emotional awareness, while also building coping skills to navigate stressful situations.

Dr. Aramesh is trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, problem-focused therapy, and interpersonal psychotherapy. she also incorporates lifestyle modifications and sleeps hygiene, and behavioral modification into therapy.

The main form of psychotherapy intervention in Dr. Aramesh’s practice is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Dr. Aramesh will discuss with you whether this form of therapy may be beneficial for your specific situation. CBT is effective for many problems, including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and other specific problems.

CBT is a collaborative process – the more active and involved you are in your therapy; the more benefit you will gain. However, this form of therapy is not guaranteed to work for everyone. Psychotherapy may also require exploring unpleasant aspects of your life and can, at times, lead to emotional distress.

If there is anything that bothers you in the therapy process or you feel your treatment goals are not being met, please discuss it with Dr. Aramesh. One of the benefits of therapy is the ability to discuss uncomfortable topics with your provider in a safe setting.

Therapy sessions typically occur weekly for 45 minutes. At times, I will recommend twice-weekly therapy. We may also agree to meet every other week. Therapy may be short-term for acute issues or more long-term for more chronic issues.
